O'Keeffe Leaf Paintings
Students learned about artist, Georgia O'Keeffe and her extra large paintings of natural objects. Students examined her leaf paintings before trying their own. Students first studied the leaf and then made a drawing with contour lines. We added details like veins and observed if the edge of the leaf was smooth or rough. Students then colored the leaf and then painted over the paper with watercolor. This technique is called watercolor resist.
