Pop Art style cartoon characters
Students worked so hard on these paintings! We started by studying Pop Art and identifying the characteristics of the movement. Next each student selected a cartoon character and enlarged it using a grid system for drawing. An exploration of color mixing followed and then students painted several thumbnail sketches to test out a color scheme borrowed from a famous painting. Finally, students painted their favorite combination which you see here. What a fantastic bunch of artists we have in third grade! Way to go!
